Graffiti Artists in Residence Announced

Leake Street Arches is proud to introduce its new Artist in Residence programme – an exciting new chapter that celebrates creativity, community and the culture that has made the tunnels one of the world's most iconic legal graffiti spaces.

 

The residency will be led by a collective of four artists who share a passion for making street art accessible, championing creativity without judgement, and using art as a powerful tool for connection and wellbeing. Having each found inspiration and belonging within Leake Street itself, the collective brings together a diverse mix of styles, experiences and perspectives, united by a belief that graffiti is about self-expression, ownership and the freedom to create.

 

Through workshops, community spray days, live events and new creative initiatives, the Artist in Residence programme will nurture everyone from first-time spray can users to experienced graffiti artists. Together, the collective aims to build on Leake Street's legacy, creating opportunities for more people to experience the positive impact of street art while preserving the unique culture and energy that has made the tunnels a global creative destination.

 

For the artists themselves, the appointment represents the realisation of a long-held dream. What began as individual journeys of finding confidence, identity and community through art has evolved into a shared mission to shape the future of Leake Street. Now, they are committed to caring for the space, celebrating its culture and ensuring it remains a welcoming home where creativity can flourish and everyone has the freedom to leave their mark.
